If you are having to cool for 10 months of the year then the PTC is goign to save you a lot of money over that period due to not working flat out all the time like a compressor chiller.

Remember the golden rule with peltier - it is always trickling the cooling cycle so losing minimum effort and less electricity, it also keeps your tank at a constant instead of peaks and troughs.

Also if requiring a chiller for that length of time reliability is the key and this is where the PTC wins hands down.

The key to matthias statement is in the critical heat, if you dont mind you tank always running at the high level and always fluctuating temps then go for the cheap option but if you want stability then go for the PTC
