Project complete

I don't know if anyone in nebraska has done one of these yet but I put together a DIY sea swirl this weekend. I got the motor in Lincoln at the Surplus Center on west O street. Aparently, everyone on RC that is doing this project is ordering from them, so I thought it was cool that I could actually just go drive and get one rather than ordering online for a change.

Here's a link to the video of it. I'm happy with it for now. I'll be happier when it's still working 6 months from now.

If anyone needs some help putting one together (even an MJ mod), I don't mind helping. It was a lot harder than I thought even after reading all the info. on the internet.

What kind of price would you charge for one of those? I am not very diy handy. PM me if interested in making another

The motors are about $3 a peice, the hobby box at radioshack is less than $10....You can put these together for less than $20, easy.

Jbittner, leave the buying and selling of diy stuff off this forum, we don't want to get shut down.

Even asking about buying things like this in an open forum is ASKING to get banned, I guess you don't spend much time in the DIY forum.

Maybe you should have though of PM'ing him instead.

I've been around here (Reefcentral) for a long time--DIY forum as well. but i still say relax and I will PM him.

If you do make another one I would be interested in seeing the step-by-step so to speak. Take some pics and post them. $20 for a DYI sea swirl sounds like a good deal to me.

I know where to find all the parts around here...so thats the biggest part that I think would help. This project took a considerable amount of time to make. I would consider making the majority of the mod in return for some frags/corals/etc.(+cost of parts) if you guys are not DIY savy.

Thanks for all the positive feedback everyone:)
