I just wanted to let everyone know about PROP's trip to LA last weekend. Jason, Eric, and I went.
First, we visited UniqueCorals.com. One of the owners, Joe, made an appointment for us as the store is not generally open to the public. I know I speak for Jason and Eric when I say that we felt like kids in a candy store. The selection of corals was simply breathtaking as was the quality. The operation is incredibly clean and well organized.
From high end SPS's to a huge variety of zoas, you could pretty much find any coral you could imagine. Equally impressive was the LPS collections. Most important, the corals we saw were identical to the pictures on Unique's website. You can certainly buy with confidence from them. Joe was super helpful and took as much time as we wanted both describing his operation and answering questions about the livestock.
After Unique, we took off for the other end of the city (literally 60 miles away) to visit Reef Raft. This was truly an eye opening experience. Reef Raft is known for it's high end collector's corals and they didn't disappoint. I'm pretty sure Jason and Eric experienced some sort of seizure as they browsed the selection. We saw the mother colonies of the Wolverine (a golden colored acro that is truly unusual) as well as the DDay (another super high end collector Acro). They also had an enormous collection of ultra high end chalices and zoas.
We brought back many new items for PROP and as they grow out, we will start offering them at auctions. Keep your eyes open for new releases over the next few months.
