proper MH lighting for sps dominated 30 gallon setup?

just wondering what people suggest as proper wattage and light color for a 30 gallon setup that is sps dominated. I am currently lighting with a 250 watt 10k MH system. I'm aware 15 or 20k will make colrs pop more, but how will it affect growth given proper water parameters

depend on the bulb and ballast..i am using 14K aquaconnect bulb over my 20, and have ten times the growth i had with my 20kk bulbs....but there again from what i understand the radium bulbs @ 20kk have higher par then some 14kk bulbs...also pretty sure icecaps and magnetic ballasts will burn the bulbs hotter (and whiter) giving better par..

so it really depends on the actual bulb and ballast combo....Sanjay's findings will give you a really good idea of what to expect from a given bulb and ballast combo....so i am sure you know your ballst you can find the that should best perform for you in terms of colour and PAR

250 over a thirty should allow you to grow anything well pending parameters...and reflector...mogul and DE bulbs also have different burn and PAR characteristics too...you should still be able attain excellent growth in your tank with a 12-15kK bulbs and the colour is usually better....some like the yellow of 10kK some dont, same as some dont like the blue hue of 14 or 20kK bulbs either..
