I am hooking this unit up today and I have a question about the best programming of the unit.

I have the unit configured to cycle the pump per instruction but there is no indication on a need to "pause" the in-flow of makeup water during the on cycle of the stir pump and no mention if it would be best to wait for some "settle" time after the stir cycle completes.

My question is:

1) Should I turn off make-up water while the stir pump ir operating?

2) Should I wait for a little time after the stir cycle before I turn on the make-up water system?

Thanks,
Ken

Hello Ken,

Thanks for your post, you should not have to turn off or turn on your make up water system to operate your reactor correctly. Remember your slowly dripping the kalkwasser back in to your system, you want to regulate how much is dripped into the system. From what I have heard and in my experience it is usually best to drip kalkwasser overnight, as not to affect pH so much, but I have also dripped kalkwasser during the day with no adverse affects too. Your best bet is to see what works best for you and your tank you can go both ways if you wish, with out running into trouble. I hope this information was helpful to you, if you have any further questions I invite you to contact our technical support staff at 714.385.0080

Enjoy your new Precision Marine Kalkreactor Happy Reefing!
