So say I have a few corals on that list. If it passes I have to apply for a permit? What if they say no and won't give me a permit? I have to give up my corals? That would be some schizitt wouldn't it.....

its a good think I dont know any of the latin names of any of my corals and hey they all look different under different lighting I mean is it really a lokani. could you imagine the police giving you a ticket for having a acro

I mean, even the Galaxea is on there. Tons of us have it. I understand they are trying to protect species. Why don't they just say, no more getting it from the ocean. Aquaculture only. Instead they want to make money off of us, we are all broke because of the saltwater world anyways!:lolspin:

despite what some may claim it's extremely difficult to identify many (most!) of those corals correctly down to species level.

The word 'farce' comes to mind.

What corals i dont have any corals ... no you cant come in my house . have a warrant? No well you better get one.....what a joke small personal home aquariums gonna get raided? dont think so. BTW how will they even know who has corals right now and who doesnt they gonna go house to house?

Hey Will Fish and Wildlife people don't need warrants to search your house. They have more juridiction than the police.

there's no logical reason to ban aquacultured corals. if anything like this ever passes, im seeing a future of coral speak easy's and a black market.

I'd love to hear a senator lobbying for funding to enforce something like this with the current deficit. The idiots that worry about things like this when there are so many other problems.... Elected by us.

I definately think that a proposal like this needs to discussed as that way enough people can speak up against it. I wouldn't put it past legislation to put something like that through if there was little resistance. There has been a proposal cycling around in NY State for years that would make it illegal for insurance companies to deny you coverage based on what breed of dog you own but because enough insurance companies speak out against it (statistically certain breeds do more damage when they do bite) it never gets passed. Personally, I'd like to see it passed as I think breed discrimination is ignorant but that's just my opinion. (my Akitas are on the "bad" list) Bottom line... If the right voices are heard this will not pass.
