Protecting against loss of power

For all of you with large tanks and LARGE investments, what measures have you taken to protect against a prolonged power failure?

I'm going to upgrade to a 180 and as part of my expense planning may consider a small generator that could run pumps and heaters for extended period.

the only real solution for protection against prolonged power failure is a back up generator, preferably one that auto starts with power interruption

At the moment I have a modest generator. But I have plans to purchas a large natural gas generator thats large enough for both the house and the aquariums.

Not to be weird, but I think I remember from another post that ycnibrc owns a pizza shop and flower shop.

You cant beat the whole house generators. One thing to keep in mind is check the different brand name. There are all made by Generac but are priced differently. I will have one in my next house along with solar panels so I can MH's lights for free!!

I agree, when you start pricing smaller generators that are enough to power a large reef, your better off by just going with an entire home generator for the money.
