Protecting DIY led connections

I bought a DIY led kit, all the joints that require solder, won't they corrode in a canopy? How do you protect them from rust? Ive heard applying finger nail polish works. Is this true? Do you guys have any other suggestions?

yea, Im familiar with heat shrink, Im talking about the points where Im goign to be soldering a wire to the star of a single LED chip. like this...

Best idea is to stop it getting wet, if you can!! The LEDs themselves won't appreciate salt water, never mind the solder joints ::(

The silicon is a good idea and cheap. Also, you may try Di-electric grease, which may need to be reapplied occasionally depending how much splash. Which comes to using some type of splash guard. The less water that comes into contact with the connections the better. Good luck

Someone already mentioned it but the ideal way is to build it in to prevent it. Splash shield, etc. If that isn't possible, and in some cases it isn't, look at the liquid rubber.

I've used that on a few tanks which helped.
