Protein Skimmer Question

I lost the little plug that goes on the cup's drainage. Anybody have any ideas on how to plug this up? I have skimmate just dripping back into the water which is rather counter productive.

Tie a knot in the hose.

I add a john guess fitting valve and just set it to closed

I made a plug out of acrylic using a lathe lol
