Protein skimmer suggestions

Just ordered a vertex after reading how they're the bentleys of skimmers

Lol... Really.. I laughed pretty hard at this one. I suggest you dig a little deeper and research these a little more. They're made extremely nice but they're unbalanced. People get them to run pretty decent but they fall short of skimming like an aquamaxx or atb... Or lifereef, or tunze or...

Look at the octopus SRO 1000 cone or regular. I really don't think many skimmers can beat it. I have owned a ton of skimmers all way from cheap ones to pricy ones with red Dragon pumps. The skimmer I was most impressed with was the octopus SRO 2000 XP cone. Thing was a monster. But I really don't think you need more than a 1000. The bubble blaster pump is top of the line. I would prefer that over a sicce any day

Do you guys really think a Aquamaxx coneS co-2 would be good on the OP water volume? Reason I ask is, I am looking at getting one. I have around 175 gallons total, 150 DT and 90 sump. Medium bio load, soon to be heavy-ish!

Cones s 3. Just put one in my 200 with total water being 260. It's working great. Silent, and not crazy priced. I have cone s 1 on my daughters 65 and it is was lead me to get rid of my octopus pov with dc pump. The dc pump skimmer craze is funny to me now that I had one. I ran it at 100% anyway so the theory of saving money on electric goes out the window. The Jns or aquamax cone s skimmers use sicce pumps that are very energy efficient.
