protein skimmer

can you tell me the best and least expensive protein skimmer for a 50 gallon tank.the store told me remora pro would be good. Also are they difficult to figure out and are they noisy?

do you have a sump?

Remoras are overpriced. $200+ is ridiculous for a skimmer that really can only handle a 30g tank

Yes, easy to setup and no, they are not quiet. Pretty noisy if you ask me as I've owned them before. The best way to go is with an sump protein skimmer.

A sump is a tank underneath your main tank that catches the overflow water from your tank and then you pump it back up into your tank. In the sump you can run a protein skimmer and other things if you want.

I think im being laughed at?

No brother, we have all been there. it just takes a little work to explain some things. and im just a little goofy. but yeah I did get a good chuckle. But not at you.

the scoop is im new to hobby. I bought 50g and plan is for sw fish and some reef. They sold me the filter , lr,cc, starter fish. Now im told from other dont need filter= need ps, heater , rid volt, and no starter fish. I did recently buy the 1200 powerhead.

Also just 2nd week into tank. h2o pretty clear, could be clearer and was told ps would do that. Also didnt want a bunch of noisy equip. do i really need a ps if im only going to have a couple of corals?

Im not that up on the good Hang On the Back skimmers.
But as a beginner I would highly recommend a skimmer.

coralife ccs HOB skimmer would be preety good. remora pro kind of have mixed reviews. but some people really likre them

just to let you know the cascade will do every thing you want. you will need the bio rings in the top which i am assuming you already have but that will take care of your flow and your filtration system. and with the flowmaster you have plenty of flow. as far as a heater. you do need one or 2 of them. be sure ot get the fully submersable ones not the ones that attatch to the top of the tank.

thx matt. i did go ahead and buy a skimmer. my h20 is already much clearer. I do plan on taking media out of filter and use floss pads and use it as ph. what do u think?
