Protein skimmer?

I am thinking about re-doing my sump on my 120 with a larger one and putting a protein skimmer in the sump. I am currently looking at an ASM G-2 skimmer due to size considerations. The skimmer cant be to tall about 24" of height max. and this has to allow for removing cup for cleaning

Anyone have any ideas on other skimmers that might be better or any experience with the ASM G-2. I found a price of about $245 delivered. does anyone know where to find a better price.

Also was planning on using a 20 gallon pvc shipping drum I got from work for my new sump, the dimensions work out pretty well, does anyone forsee any problems with this idea

all thoughts and ideas are appreciated on this matter

saw an aqua C EV-120 with mag 5 pump on e-bay, was considering this skimmer, does anyone have any experience or thoughts on this skimmer for my 120. The mr-1 has been spoken for allready I and am not sure if the asm G-2 or the EV-120 would be better. I am trying to do this sump skimmer upgrade with as few $ as possible but dont want to be unsatisfied when done. GOMD said he has an ASM i could get at a great price.

thanks for the replys, keep any thoughts or ideas coming

No, I have the MR-1, lol. Sorry for the confusion. I had already ordered the ASM, but had to have a skimmer. $180 for the MR-1 with pump, its a great skimmer. Also, I have a Turbofloater with no pump I'm trying to get rid of.

I will have to second that on the MR-1 Jorge that skimmer rocks. I think for the price you can't do any better. Not sure on the Aqua C EV-120. I used to have a AQUA C Remora w/a mag 3 and did not like it. I saw that skimmer working on Eric,s tank and like I said when it is dialed it rocks.

I'm using the EV 120, and can say it's a quantum improvement over its little cousin the Urchin. I managed to get it into a 10g sump, and it's under 24", besides that the cup comes off sideways with only a 1/2" lift. I'm pulling at least 3x what the Urchin got, out of a 52g. I'm running it with a mag 5. There's a bit of a heating issue in so small a sump with a mag 9.5 and a mag 5. But so far so good.

since the MR-1 is available, my confusion and at agreat price I think I will give it a try. will have to create or locate a new sump and am leaning towards in sump configuration.

thanks to all again
