Protein Skimmer??

I'm just about tp start up a 46 gallon reef tank. Just wondering what protein skimmer I should get. What about the Remora?

Sump or no Sump? What do you plan on keeping in reef (soft, LPS, SPS) What price range are you looking at?

Are you looking for hob or one for the sump? It's probably best to decide that first and then do a lot of reading and decide for yourself. How much do you want to spend is the main question.

Whatever brand you choose. Get one that is rated 2X the amount of water volume you have.

Just go ahead and buy a BubbleKing Deluxe 400.

It's really hard to say what to get if the $$$ field, in-sump or out of sump field, and so much other required information.
If you plan to do daily water changes, you don't need a skimmer. If you plan to do changes once a year, you need a great skimmer (and probably another hobby).

I have an Octopus DNW-110 in mine, and I'm very happy with it. You really need a sump to run it, though. As has been stated, it really depends on what you plan on keeping, what type of budget you have, whether or not you have a sump, and if you do have a sump, how much space you have in it (that was my biggest limitation). If you have no shortage of money or sump space, then go ahead and get that BubbleKing
