Protein Skimming

Is it bad to turn your PS off at night.. Well heres the problem the tank is in my room and i cant sleep with the skimmer on the noise keeps me up. can i put the skimmer on a timer to turn on when i want and turn off when i want..will this affect anything?

That's fine, some people don't even use a skimmer at all and their tanks are fine.

I actually only turn my skimmer on at night, so then it can pull out all the gunk and waste that is in the water from the the whole day!
