Ok, so i built a system last spring with (5) 30 gallon tanks connected to one sump on top shelf for breeders, (3) 65 gallon tanks on middle shelf for growout with own sump, and purchased four pairs of oscellaris clowns, and one pair of maroon clowns, all very young, except for the larger maroon. Pairing went well, but lost three pairs of common clowns due to a disease outbreak when i put mollies in sump to clean up food. So i have been pampering the heck out of the other two pairs left. Homemade food, clean water, mood music... well, the other day i finally niticed eggs... god knows how long they have been laying there, as i saw the male maroon keep going in a 4" T PVC that i have along with a flower pot.... they laid eggs on the inside of the pvc, and now the work really begins. I have read all the books, and have lots of notes on how to grow rotifers, and have been pretty successful at hatching brine shrimp even to adulthood this summer. Anyways, there was one thing in wilkersons book that some people who raise clark's clowns that they use crused, pulverized spirulina instead of rotifers. Has anyone else had success with this? Thanks. Bunker

I've had limited success with crushed spirulina, but no where near as good as with live rots. I feed both so that it's easier to get them eating something besides rots quicker. If I remember correctly the rots will consume it also, but I'de have to reread to be positive.
