Proudly introduce my school of Dispar Anthias

Yes, a school of 3 dispar anthiases. They've been in the tank for 1 month, beautiful, active up front, not shy at all to hand feeding.
The larger 2 ate live brine shrimp within the first few hrs introduced. The smallest was hiding for 2 wks and rarely took any food. Now they'r all together and love flake and home made food.

Beautiful...what a nice shot Peter ! The pic shows their vivid colors as in real. Yes I have love for anthias too and thinking of keeping different anthias spiecies like yours. Is there anything I need to know to keep anthias or dispar particularly healthy, Peter?

Here are mine they all get along great ad eat very well. Nice pics everybody
the large yellow is a female squareback. The 2 orange/purple are tukas and the oe in the back is a lyretail purple male

Nice fishes. I'm trying to introduce a school of bangii cardnials in my tank. AS soon as I can find a store that carrys them. They sell out so fast around here. I live in Raider country so most fans get them.

Beautiful anthiases and clear pics everyone. One of the reason I like the dispar is that they seems to flash more often, show their colors at best. Other fishes rarely bother them when they first introduce to the tank.

Keep an eye on yours. In the pictures you posted it looks like you have two males. One is clearly mature but the other shows a full red dorsal fin. It will soon be a full male. You might have some problems. The males can be very aggressive to each other.

My dominant male has recently sent the sub dominant male into hiding again.

You are right, dispar males are always flashing and I think they have rockets hidden their butts. They swim around like lightning!

Wow Peter, best anthias pic at flash I've ever seen. With that pic quality, I bet you have high dollar camera and lenses.
Carl, honestly I'm not sure what I have, either the saleman at LFS. I saw the bigger 2 fought mouth to mouth for hrs, and that was the only time I witnessed. They get long since then. Base on the close up pic from Peter and what I see on mine then I think I have 1 male and 2 fem. Is the full red dosal fin only way to distinguish the sex Carl ? One of the 2 with full red dosal fin has brighter yellow on the back.
How long have you all have the anthias in the tank

In unmature males it can be hard to tell the sex properly. The full red dorsal fin is what my male showed when changing. Another way to tell is you should start seeing the first spine on the pelvic fins start to get longer. Mouth to mouth fighting is a sign of two males. They probably get along now because the young male has not fully changed yet.

My dispar are almost 1 year in the tank. The lori's are a couple of month's and the flavicauda are about a month. I also have parvirostris but they are still in quarantine and they are going in a differant tank.
