pruning mushroom corals

Sometimes you can pluck them off. But only the ones who are about to let go. I use a pair of tweezers with an angle on the end. Grab the mushroom as close to the rock as possible and just twist it off. But it will only work on ones that are loose.

I have also heard of people cutting them at the base with scissors, or a razor blade. But have never tried it myself.

Mushrooms are pretty hardy. By cutting them, in most cases the attached foot will grow back a new head, and the cut off head will grow a new foot and attach to the substrate if given the proper conditions.

If you wanted to kill them, I imagine something like a kalk paste or even aptasia-X might work.
