The Honda's are the way to go. I sprung for a EU3000 about 10 years ago and no regrets. I have always been able to rely on it. That purchase came after several years of buying a new harbor freight quality generator every year or so when the last one broke.

Reliability is the single most important requirement with an emergency generator. I mean, what good does one do you if it doesn't work when you need it.
