It's really never a good idea to leave anything with a magnet that doesnt need to be in there in the first place. Leaving a veggie clip in there is just being lazy.
Dont blame the clip. Remove it as soon as the fish finish eating. I do it, u can too.
I dont even leave my flipper in mine. Only thing is mp40s - that's it!

Incorrect. I had this same issue many years ago, but the only reason I bought another one was because I was told that the new tlf clips had been upgraded with a new non rusting magnet. I believe Julian Sprungs said it himself IIRC. So I bought this one sometime last year and have removed it after an hour or two when my tang gang finish the nori. Lately I have noticed that my zoanthids have been slowly deteriorating so last night before I put the clip in the tank with nori (usually i keep it attached to the fridge) I opened it and noticed what you see in the pic above.
And btw, Mp40s are notorious for rusty magnets ; )

Matt makes great stuff! I have one of his lids, super nice! I didn't want any more magnets in my tank, so I opted for cheap suction cup clips that I found on Amazon. I think out of the eight that I bought, only one or two don't stick.

I dont leave it in the tank because i was trying to avoid having a rusty magnet. Go figure. Lol

Jesse have OCD. When a tiny speck of algae start growing on the clip he wash with acid, bleach and soak with RODI water. :lolspin:

Any magnet or impeller can do that, even top brands like tunze and echotech. Inspect regularly.

Yah!! He's the first guy who's seen my tank and did not comment on how spotless it is!!! I'm hurt by this.
