puffer question

I purchased 2 juvi puffers ( spotted and stars and stripes) last week and placed then in my 40g QT.

They appear to be doing fine and they are eating heavily.

My question is that both puffers 95% of the time have their rear tails collapsed and turned forward.

Is this something that I should be concerned about?

My porcupine did that for a few months. I just thought it was a sign he wasn't totally happy with his surroundings. Kind of watching his back.

I agree with the answer given by reefergeorge, insecurity and maybe stress. You should check for any sources of stress, starting with water parameters. Also, make sure they have plenty of cover. I've seen puffers in bare tanks exhibit this behavior.

If they continue to eat well and water parameters are fine, they are probably okay.

water perm are good and I have about 20 or so lbs of LR in a 40g qt.

Their tails seem to be slowly coming out a little more often.

I've seen puffers in the wild exhibit that behavior ;) I wouldn't worry so much, it's just normal puffer behavior.
