Pukani rock

Depends on how much you want. I went minimalistic, but to give you an idea here is a picture of a mix of reef saver and pukani rock from BRS. I got 20lbs of pukani and 40lbs of reef saver and 6 lbs of live rock.

Pukani rock goes a long way, you get a lot of rock for little poundage.

72 lbs of pukani is going to be quite a bit. First off the rock is dry so you don't account for water weight like LR and secondly that particular rock is very porous so it is going to take more to get you to 72 lbs. I would probably shoot for 40 to 60 lbs if you want the tank to be fairly full (maybe a bit less).

Lynnmw1208 has a 6' 125 and only has about 60-65 lbs of rock so you can use that as a gauge.

I have a 120 and only have 50 pounds of pukani, and a few pounds of live Totoka from a LFS. I'll try to take pictures when I get home.

It's hard to give you an accurate assessment, since everyone has their own taste when it comes to aquascaping. Seems like more folks are going with the minimalistic approach, and if that's the case with you, I think you could get away with as little as 30 pounds. As others have mentioned, this rock goes a loooong way.

If I had a 72 with a sump and was going with strictly Pukani I think I would order 70lbs and cherry pick the best pieces for my display and throw a couple leftovers in my sump.imo
I have a 120 and ordered 125. I got 140 and it's a ton of rock for my tank. One piece alone weighed 30lbs but I'm glad I ordered what I did. It's some really great looking rock!!

This is about 80lbs in a 120

If you ask for "large pieces" here's what you get... below is 50lbs... the biggest piece is about 19" from end to end

IMHO this has been one of the best tank purchases I've made

I just got in 40lbs for my 40 breeder. I think that I only used about 30-35lbs of it. I still have a couple of good sized rocks that I didnt use. I will break them down some and place them in my sump.
