Well, to make this Xenia even more totally misunderstood ...
hehe...
My 100g reef tank has zero (undetectable) Nitrates, I do water
changes almost once per year and my alkalinity has fluctuated at times.
9.9 dKH 7-3-02
8.7 dKH 8-10-02
7.0 dKH 9-18-02
6.4 dKH 9-25-02
8.6 dKH 11-25-02
8.0 dKH 1-5-03
(but this is not a quick alkalinity change)
And I've never had a problem with the growth of my xenia. It’s
been in my tank for 4 years and it grows like a weed. I love it
and the way it moves w/ the current… but, I see why some
consider it a nuisance coral and wished they never put it in their tank.
The only thing I add to my tank is kalkwasser.
My current water parameters are: Sp. Grav 1.026, Temp 80^F,
Nitrate 0, Phosphate 0, pH 8.1, Alk 9.3 dKH
My xenia forest is on the right side.
