Yesterday I purchased a small frag of green hammer coral, that had a small patch of pulsing Xenia attached. I would like to keep the Xenia and was wondering if I should leave it attached or not? It is at the very bottom (base) of the hammer frag. Amy ideas on what to do? Thanks in advance!

Is no one going to help?

if you wanted to keep it I would get a dimond blade saw. use a 4 inch cut of wheel and cut the base off just above the Xenia as long as there is enough room. then you can glue it onto another rock somewhere else.
or you could just leave it.
I know people that have Xenia all over their claims and they do not hurt or bother them. have not seem it next to hammer so not sure about it would effect it.

Thank you so very much for your help! :)

For now, leave the Xenia. It will be hard to frag and attach at that size. Wait until it's bigger and you should be able to take a razor blade and cut it off the stalk and re-mount it somewhere else.

I agree. I was on my work computer and it filtered out the pic so I didn't see it until now. Let it grow a little and see what happens. Xenia is weird. I know some people that have a hard time keeping it. But once they do it grows like a weed. I'm
Keep the extra and put it in my sump

my guess is it would bother the frogspawn when it got large so I agree to wait and get it off of there. I decided not to get any of this stuff as I don't want it taking over my tank lol.

Mine crashed, killed by my 'shrooms in the end. Xenia is not quite the menace in every tank. And some people cannot grow it at all.
And still others? A noxious weed..
Which I actually wish I still had!

PS. It won't hurt THAT coral. Probably the reverse would be true, the Euphyllia are aggressive stingers..

I think the hammer would sting the Xenia.
