Pump died

My return pump in my Biocube 29 just quit working. I don't have anywhere locally that I can get a new pump and will not have a replacement one until the middle of next week. I do have 2 power heads in the tank but I am not sure they will help much. Do I need to get an air pump with an air stone going? Or maybe move one of the power heads up higher so I am getting more surface action?

For replacement I am thinking about the Cobalt MJ1200, any thought on other pump that work in chamber 3 of the Biocube 29.

Thanks

For the time being I think you'll be ok with just the two power heads. Increasing the surface agitation is definitely a good idea though.

You should try taking apart the pump and soaking in a 50/50 mix white vinegar and water. Then clean the parts with a toothbrush or something to get rid of the slime crud inside of the pump. Then put it back together and try it.

Worth a try before trashing it. Most pumps are pretty hardy and will last a long time with a good cleaning.

Yes. Sometimes replacing the impeller does the trick as well. It's also worth trying to get rotation on the pump by spinning the blades of the impeller manually, just until you get it replaced.
