Pump for ATO?

Hello, I need a few pumps to feed two ATO. I am looking at the Aqua Lifter Vacuum Pump but it seems really weak. I need at least 5' head height. Any suggestions? Any info on rigging up the Tunze top off pump to work on a standard plug. I am not sure if I would fry the pump if I simply spliced the wires together from an old extension cord. That way I could use a JBJ or Reef Fanatic ATO with a great pump. Thank you for your time.
