pump for python siphon

I have a python siphon with a 25ft hose that I use to do a water change in my 130g tank. I hook the hose to the bathroom sing, turn on the water and suck away. I'm not sure if I'm doing it right, but once the suction starts, I leave the water running. Wasting a ton of water but I think the suction is stronger when the water remains on. I did turn the water off to see how it worked and it seemed to slow down.

I'd love to not waste water to do this. The question is this. Is there a pump that you can buy that you can place in the hose run that will suck the water from the DT to the sink so no running water is needed?

That would be perfect!! Maybe I'm using the siphon incorrectly, but I don't think so.

your biggest enemy with the python is the relative heights of start and finish of the water.

it does slow the flow when you turn off the tap, the python flows a fairly small amount for the diameter of the hose.

i haven't seen any pump attachments, but you could probably use any pump that would fit the hose, drop it in the tank, and then run the hose to the drain.

or, you could try starting the siphon with the sink, then moving the end of the hose to the bathtub to finish draining. since the bathtub is lower than the sink, that should help speed it up at least a little.

The python works by venturi action caused by the flow of the water from the faucet. I run mine down to the basement so that once it is started I can go down and disconnect from the faucet completely. In my situation, the flow increases because of the downhill flow from the tank.
