pump opionions

I find my self needing an external pump to do return from the basement to the 1st floor

I would like a quite pump with about 1800 GPH at 10ft head

what do those of you who pump from the basement up use?

I dont mind prices I just want what you use and what you think of it ...

I built a shelf in my basement that held the sump up near the the floor joist to reduce head. I used an iwaka 30 i think on a 75 gallon.

I would look into a sequence pump. The WAHOO UNO Pump will give you 1676GPH @ 10ft of head at 251w. Sequences are very reliable pumps with good warranties.

Hi Dave, are you moving and is this pump for your 120? If it is, it's too much for a return pump for your setup, IMO. What's the purpose of moving that much water through your sump that will be in a basement?

Agreed, I think turnover should be around 400-600gph for a 120. might as well save on some wattage and purchase some good powerheads for inside the tank. Plus you won't really have to worry about microbubbles from the excessive flow from tank to sump. JMO.

Agreed. For a standard all glass tank, both overflows in a 120 would have a combined flow rate of 1200gph max. Since you always need to plan on one of them failing at some point, you should only run half that much through the return. So JJ is right on the money with 400-600 gph.

hey Sone, I am moving it IS for my 120

and you are all probobly right as I was working with
I have a mag 12 ( suposidly 1200 gph) it runs wide open
one overflow has very little flow through it

so I figured that I could get away with a little more flow

what I was not thinking about :
I probobly not getting anywhere near 1200 gph through my plumbing


I like the flow through the sump dont know why I like LOTS of turnover .... maybee I need to slow things down a little...

Are you trying to get away with less powerheads inside the tank? I had a Sequence Tarpon that was pressure rated and used approx. 170W. The output is 1440gph at 17ft of head. I used penductors on them and it worked great. It's a cheap way to get a lot of flow into your tank. I'm sure there are other brands of pumps out there that might suit your needs. Just thought I'd post what has worked for me in the past.
