Pump question

I just purchased a 250 gal deep dimension tank. I'm going to use a 75 gal as a sump. Aprox flow is 1200 to 1300 gph. My question is wether or not I should use two smaller pumps for the return or one large pump?

i am assuming it is going to be an internal pump, right? or is it external pump?
most big tanks will use an external pump, but i have seem some larger tanks use "one" internal pump. i would use one pump to give out less heat.

I'm looking at getting external pumps like the Iwaki w/Japanese motor or Reeflo.

I use a Pan World 50PXX 24/365. I also use a 40PX 8am till 10pm. Works great and nice and quiet at night (Tank is a 300DD)
