Pump recomendation for my diy bk?

I don't think it's any much diff. than just the magnet part being a little longer. The reason I want 1262 because I need more flow into that big chamber. I think it's worth every ml of air and flow I can get for this skimmer. I will call you when I am ready.

Thanks,
Loc

Hey, with the Eheim, did you have to raise the body of your skimmer or it sits perfect like the sedra 5000?

My decision on the pumps, I ended up with 2 Eheim pumps...

Hey loc so have you tried the skimmer yet. Let me know when your planning on testing it. I can take my flow meter and we can check it out. Hey did you do the needle wheel mod yet?

Not yet Mario, but I think if you restrict the water inlet a bit, it will give you more air going in. Why don't you try to reduce the water inlet and check with your air meter to see if you gain any.

No recirc pumps?

None the less that thing is going to make some sick pudding!

Awesome work man.

Because the reaction chamber so big, I test ran it with 1 Eheim it seemed to be under power, that's why I decided using 2 pumps. No recir. is needed, thanks to the BK with the inner reaction chamber which absorbs all the turbulent streams producing by the 2 pumps what I see is very fine bubbles slowly raising up after they escaped the inner chamber rather than rushing to the cup and ABSOLUTELY no bubbles release back to the sump. Now I know why EuroReef and H&S skimmer don't work too well with 2 or 3 pumps attached.

I now make the external model for a friend, the box will be 15 1/2" X 24" and 4" tall. Please check I will post pictures when I have a chance.

what black seals did you use for the external tubing?

are they uniseals?

Yes, they are. Eventhough they don't leak at the moment but I don't recomend to use if you run external.

loc,

how did you mod the eheims? did you get some sedra needlewheels and attach them to the eheim impeller?

if so, which sedra needlewheel did you use and how did you attach them to it?

man, i am just chock full of questions! :)

I will use the Sedra 5000 needle wheels which will be compressed fit into the Eheim propellor like Mchava did on his mod.

not the output tube. the riser tube from the skimmer cone to the collection cup

Oh! sorry,it's 4.5" diameter .

Loc, let me correct you on the H&S protein skimmer before their reps come by your house and kick you in the rear. H&S or deltec don't have any problem with two or three pumps on their skimmer due to the eheim and aquabee sucking more air than water and there is no restriction from the cone to the riser tube into the collection cup. They use large riser tube and the cone are very well molded. Sedra pumps pushing more water than air, the transition from the skimmer body to collection cup is not smooth. I notice on my CS500 as i show you last week. Lots of bubble stuck at the flat surface.
