pump recommendation

We have been running a GRI pump. We have already replaced one of them under warrantry and now the new one which is about three years old is squeeling. It is a 120 gallon tank plumbed with 1" PVC. The GRI has a 1" port. Can we get some recommendations regarding this issue. Anybody else running GRI or replaced theirs. I was told the GRI was the quietest in the industry, but it seems loud to me.

I run a GRI 14520 and have done so for 2.5 years without any issues. In fact, it was a used pump when I bought it. It throws a ton of water and, since I'm fighting about 10' of head pressure, I needed its push. I have it in the basement, but it seems relatively quiet to me as it sends water to the first floor. I did try my used back-up pump (same model) and it was quite noisy but after dismantling it, I found that the pump shaft and thrust bearing were cracked.

I have used a mag 24 in submersible mode on my buddy's tank since it is right next to his den and the mag (underwater) is quiet as a mouse. I did add rubber padding between the mag and the acrylic sump.

If I wasn't using the GRI, I would opt for the Gen-X line. Seen them in action and they were quiet as a mouse...but the one's I've seen weren't pushing against alot of head, though.
