Pump/Sea Swirl question

Hello-

I was looking for a recommendation for some product I will be ordering soon. I am in the process of plumbing two 46 gallon tanks into a shared sump in my basement. I am using roughly 550gph overflows running through 1 inch hose. The length is roughly 10 feet.

Some input into what return pumps would work and also what size Sea Swirl to go with would be appreciated. I am thinking of separate pumps.

Thanks,

Mike

Hi Mike,

I might take a look at a Gen-X if you were to run both tanks off of one pump. Or if you want to go separate you might consider a Sen700 for each side, or Mag7 as another option. I have the same tank in my office and two Seaswirl's were what was originally on it. I found them to really take up too much space on that size of a tank, so I decided to run a SCWD, along with a few powerheads ran off a wavemaker. If it is going to be mainly softs and lps, you could probably get by with just the SCWD though. Let us know if you have anymore questions.

Thanks,
Jeremy

If it's for a return vs. closed loop you will need at least a Mag 18 to pump up 10'. You should get 500 gph at 10' with the mag 18.
