pump selection with large anemones

I have a 200g Oceanic. Measures 84x24x24. It is a mixed reef with two large anemones. I borrowed a friends 6105 and it just blew the tank away. I could not imagine putting two in this tank. What would you recommend?

This is one of the few situations I would recommend wavebox only. The anemones cannot be sucked in and the wave is really an ideal flow for them. The 6105 would work, but you need the full set so you can adjust the voltage, etc. In the box you get 12, 18 and 24V jumpers and these lower the flow as needed and 2 flow housings, wide and focused and wide flow at maybe 12-18 V would likely be what you need.

Aren't wave boxes hell a glass tanks? This tank is old.

Likely the 6105 you tried was with the focused housing and 24V jumper installed on the power supply, you can turn it down and you can change the housing (included) to spread the flow more.

I wouldn't say it is hell on a tank and as far as tanks go, the older real Oceanics from Dallas are about as good as a tank gets. If it has been moved a few times or unlevel, or is more than 10 years old, it may be cause for concern.

I was going to suggest 2 6095, but I figured this tank had fairly thick glass, the 6095 would be fairly ideal as the flow is more gentle and diffuse, but as delivered it only works on half inch and an extra extension is needed for 3/4" and it is marginal on 3/4". The 6105 is very secure out of the box on 1/2" looser on 5/8" and with an extension on 3/4". Oceanic was fond of 3/8" and 5/8" glass, they were always 1/8" thicker than they had to be.
