Pumping Xenia question?

I'm sure this gets asked a lot. Recently got a pumping xenia, and it was pumping quite a bit for the past couple days, but wasnt really pumping much yesterday or today. I read that reducing the current near it would encourage pumping, so I pointed it slightly away from it and also removed the 2nd airstone that was at the back of the tank near it, any other suggestions. Water parameters are normal and its a 14g biocube

also removed the 2nd airstone that was at the back of the tank near it,

This isnt really related, but you make it sound like you've got another airstone in the tank still? If so, take it/them out! :) They have no place in a reef IMO. For one, you're gonna get LOADS of salt creep from them.

Anyways, what are your parameters?

Nitrates
amonia
SG
pH
temp
etc...

Cant really help w/out knowing all them

thanks for replying, it ends up the zoas were too close, at least I think so, I moved them away and the xenia is pumping again. Unrelated, but should I remove the remaining airstone, I thought they were good for circulation, its attached to a ganged valve so it doesnt have maximum output. But if it should be removed I will take it out.

I agree ,get rid of the air stone and put in a powerhead or two . The more circulation , the better, If you ask me!
Just because your xenia is not pumping is not a sign of bad health . they can thrive with out pumping at all.
Mine would stop and start again all the time .They are just funny that way!

The pumping action of my xenia seems to be completely light related. The higher the light intensity of the location the faster my xenia pumps.

Sometimes they just don't feel like pumping. You need to worry if they start looking shriveled up and change color. My xenia does not get along well with my zoo's and shrooms I have no idea why but I try to keep them fairly well separated.
