I just got an email from CTFISHTores that says puppy center is closing!

Is this true? They were just remodeling the store a month ago when I went.

A sad day if it is.

Oh no.... I started reading that read but no one had posted what store and then I forgot about it. Plus I never figured it would be PC.

What do I have left around me? Waterbury Aquarium? Great...

So sad...

I'm still going through withdraws. Joe got me tons of the aquacultured stuff and would bring in tons of ORA pieces. Asked for a ORA blue milli, he got it. Asked for anything he got it. Cut us sweet pieces right out of the display tank. Emailed me on occasion talking about pieces enroute right from airport. I could go on and on... Gonna go stare at my tank and remember the good times and great company. :(

Seriously. Your forum seems to be one of the most active on RC and I always see posts about how great PC is. I actually considered taking a ride up there with how you guys portrayed it as a heavenly utopia.

I'm lost. There is no where like pc those people went above and beyond like opening doors late night for a pump or heater or the texts about a great deal on a tank :( no more gazing while chatting for couple hours the best part was every time you walked in the door you felt like you were family

PUPPYCENTER was the only store where I always found "hidden gems". This is one of the reason why I had enjoyed driving up there for years to hunt these "incredible coral frags." Now it's time to find a new hunting ground! I think I found one, Coral Reef in Stratford.

I agree that it is a huge loss, we as a reef family, and as messed up as our parameters are as a family, PC was a common ground for all of us. It hits us all hard and the previous thread that showed how it brought a lot of emotions out of us is proof that we all cared deeply about the PC folks.

Like tweaked said, I look into my tank and see the memories through the corals I've purchased at PC. Walking in, picking out a frag and then talking with the guys for hours. Hanging out by the tanks during the after hours events shooting the bull with all my fellow reef buddies watching all the people buy up coral like it was free...cause it was damn close to free!!!

I still have hopes to see one of the guys open up a small store somewhere. It was nice to know that if I texted Joe looking for a specific piece he would have it in no time at all and for an unbeatable price.

Good times...

Was at APC in Branford yesterday, and the guys were like, he did you hear PC closed? Yes, yes, I know I said.

Anywho, they claimed they were picking up some of the livestock this week from the store?

Don't be surprised to see those guys pop up with a new store down the road, that's all they did. That location proved to be too expensive over the long run, they just need a better deal to cut the over head so they can actually turn a profit...."Ron, Joe & the staff love reefing too much to let it all go permanently"

All Pets Club have already started moving some of the livestocks (mice and other critters) to their location in Southington. As far as corals are concern, they are planning this out to have things moved out soon. I was told maybe by this weekend or throughout next week. Which locations, they are not sure. Could be throughout all of their locations.

Don't get me wrong i liked everyone there. I was in the store daily.... When I left they would say see you tomorrow.

High rent does not put companies out of business. I knew it was only time... When you have dusty merchandise, unorganized displays, employees just hanging out. You run Internet "ctars" only specials at too low a price just to draw people in. You do not have enough to sustain your business. In my opinion poor management put them out of business. Selling too little at too low a price. We are all responsible for putting them out of business. Think about it? They had the most loyal following of any reef store in CT. People would drive hours just to go there.... Why because they were cheap. Low prices=low profit in the low profit business you need to be extreamly efficient in your operations. They were not. Just my opinion. Don't flame me. I actually think WH could sustain a high end reef store like Greenwich Aquaria etc....
