Purple Death Paly

Hello all,

Just seeking a little advice here about my new frag of Purple Death Palys. It has about 11 polyps on it. I have several different zoanthid colonies in my tank but I usually just set them in the rock work and let them take off and grow on their own. However, my other colonies were never as expensive as the Purple guys so I really would like them to thrive. Any advice or tips anyone can offer to make sure these little guys take off as well as the other colonies have?

Thanks!

Oh thats good to hear! I have them at the bottom of the tank where the rest of my zoanthids seem to be happiest.

Thanks for the input!

lighting? tank size?flow?

I have mine 20" from 4 t5 h.o. I'm sure I can put them a bit closer with no problem.

they're just like any other zoa / paly, but i would put them in low to moderate light. It helps keep their deep purple color

I've had great luck with these polyps (knock on wood) I keep them under high light some near the surface some have dropped and are growing everywhere, they're on submersible equipment growing over the frag racks onto other plugs. I've noticed some polyps have more of a blue shade to them. I use 4x24w T5HO (10hrs) and 250w HQI (4hrs). During feeding time they are the first coral I feed because they tend to closeup quickly when the pumps are shut off. I feed Cyclopeeze and Coral Frenzy. HTH. Flow wise is medium to high.
