purple death problems

I have had some purple deaths now for a few months. The colony is growing, but the growth is very slow, and they have never looked quite right. They dont open all of the way and the color has never really popped. Any way now they are starting to turn white around the edges and it looks like I have lost a few. All my paramaters are where they are supposed to be. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

What lighting and flow do you have them in? I know my wife's PD's don't like a lot of light...they turn an ugly brownish color when exposed to MH lighting. We moved them to the bottom of the tank and out of direct light and they like it much better and are purpling up really nice.

I just put the palys on the sand bed. I am running 3-400watt 12k reeflux. along with 6-t5 actinics. As for flow I have 2-tunze 6201's and 4-6101's. I put them in an area with less flow.

thanks, thats what I am hoping for. I put them on the sand bed under a rock ledge. It still gets light but not nearly as much. Hope everything turns around.

what about flow for them, mine are crazy 6 new buds in a week, and i have them under PC not shaded, what do you guys recomend for flow?

This is what is awesome and frustrating about Zoas/Palys. What works for one doesn't for others. I keep my PD' in the center of my frag tank, directly under a 250W, about 7" under water and a total of 20" or so from the light. They grow like crazy and the color is great. They are in indirect but high flow (the entire tank is indirect and high flow, the PH's blow under the eggcrate, off the glass and really get things moving in there).
