Purple Fire Fish

when I was checking out fish this weekend, the lady I was talking to said not to buy just one firefish if I was going to get one. She said that one will hide all the time but if you get two they are out in the open a lot more. Is this true?

Not at all. The only time mine hide, is when the last light goes out. And he's back out when they come back on in the morning.

Thanks Michaelm. Want to trade? J/K. One store told me not to keep two firefish together of they will fight unless they are a pair. I have a red one in my other tank and he used to be out all the time. Until he had a brush with death, One day I went to clean the front glass of my tank with a towel and for some reason it scared him so bad he jumped out of the tank. I even had egg crate over it. I put him back in and he was fine but ever since he hangs out in the back of tank behind the rocks and if he sees me he runs and hides. The new one I got is in a seperate tank that I set up and he is in there by himself right now. He is out and swiming all over. We'll see what he does once I put a pair of clowns with him.

You're red one will start to come out again after he starts to feel at ease again. I know people with 2 or more firefish, and never heard of any of theirs fighting with each other. If I ever decide to get rid of mine, you'll be the first to know. Mike
