In the ongoing saga of my weird pair of purple firefish a new behaviour/issue has come up.
I previously asked for opinions on whether I had a true pair as they don't hang out together at all during the day but share a burrow at night, digging it out together. The smaller one has always been afraid of the larger one. The big one has a pointed top fin, the other a rounded one.
We didn't really reach a consensus, though most people were negative
Now for the past week the bigger one has taken to hiding under a rock all the time and the smaller one hovers around above the rock chasing away the damsels and anthias. The big one hasn't lost weight or body condition though I haven't seen it eat anything. They both still sleep together at night and the small one now visits the big one under the rock during the day.
Could they have spawned?
