Purple Hornet Not Opening

I recieved a 6 polyp frag of purple hornets about 3 weeks ago. When it first arrived, I cut a 1 polyp frag and glued it onto another frag disk. The now 5 polyp frag opened up right away, but the 1 polyp frag hasnt opened more than 1/2 way. I know that it takes some time for zoas to open up but I introduced the 1 polyp into my tank at the same time as the 5 polyp. It was a nice clean cut and the zoa doesnt appear to be damaged.

Is this normal?

It could have gotten an infection after you cut it. If it is half-opening and not melting you should be in good shape. If it starts shrinking/melting then you may be in trouble. Keep an eye on it. Maybe a dip in iodine might help. Wait for further responses/reply before dipping in.

In the future it may be a good idea to let it get settled in your tank for a week or two before cutting it up.

+1...the stress of being shipped, fragged, and introduced to new light/water chemistry all at once will do it.
