Purple Legged Orange Pistol Shrimp

I've never seen colors like this on a pistol shrimp before....

Are you sure it isnt a lobster, it looks very lobsterish? Did it come in as a hithiker? If so do you knowwhere the rock came from.

No, it's definitely a pistol. One arm is larger than the other and he uses it for defense by clicking it loudly.

I've seen pictures of them before, but I couldn't find the link I used to have. Kind of neat looking, hopefully one of the 'in the knows' will chime in.

Pretty close....

One difference I noticed was my shrimps arms are orange vs purple like shrimp in the link.

appears to be a japanese bullseye pistol. They won't pair up with gobies, but are still pretty cool.

alpheus bisincisus , although i am convinced the shrimp in the pic is a bullseye , the spot on the side seals it for me
