For those who has colonies of PM under LEDs
has the color changed for you after switching form Halides?

The color looks a little lighter but not bad. It could just be the LEDs are stronger.....all in all I say your colors are looking good under the LED. How long since the change?

Very sweet colony by the way.

Mine was always under LEDs, it has grown fastest out of all my sps is is more of a lightr blue than a dark purple

fast grower is light blue....are you sure you got the right acro...this is a tyree purple monster, known for slow growth and deep purple colour.

How long has it been? I found that LED would do a good job "showing off" SPS that got their color under halides, but did a horrible job long term. ...meaning, over time the colors got horrible.

BTW - that is an awesome tank. Why would your risk switching lights?

Thanks, not bad but not the same. they have been under LEDs over a year.
This is the reason i don't want to upgrade to the newer LED models yet.
At least the growth has accelerated so no complaints there. i'm losing
deep purple, even my tri color is not as deep as it once was.

thanks,
i found some sticks love LEDs & some not so much Long term.
this tank had LEDs from the start. i Downgraded from a 240 cube
which was running (4) 400 watters & vho actinic.

Getting the deep color back might just need to feed more or cut back on the intensity or photoperiod. I have seen a PM lighten up like that under T5 as well when its getting high par. You said the growth is picking up so I think its just light intensity/photoperiod.

Yes, good Advice, the problem lies in what one coral needs it's neighbor
does not. so the rearranging game continues :)

Too much of the right light is likely not an issue. I had mine 2" under the water under a pair of 250W HQI within 8 inches with par well over 750 (I cannot remember exactly).

The LEDs are putting out too much of the wrong kind of light, or not enough of the right kind, IMO

Could be. we have to fill in the blanks with T5 or vho.

If you supplement with T5 and VHO, and don't mind me asking, what did you gain by moving away from HQI, then? Would you do it again?

well, i went with a smaller tank so heat was a issue. after dropping over 1800 watts of halides & vhos + chiller. a few 39watt bulbs won't matter to me i may build hood to house
the t5s. i have 30X30 to work with. the deal is i don't want to buy another led system that was the unit before the the next big thing. on another note:
i'll try dropping a hour of white light a day & dose more amino's to darken the corals a bit. majority of my sps i'm happy with the color, just a couple of oldies i wish were better.

I have a 30 x 30 x 31 deep and have plenty of light with my radion G1 with TIR lens

i have enough light to grow coral, i just want a little more purple on my pm. :)
does anybody else have this issue.

Hey Mr. Pluto, your tank is looking awesome as it did when I met you about 5-6 months back. We figured out that the aquarium was actually mine at one point.

Have you noticed comparable growth with the LEDs long term? I've been running a Kessil a350w over my 35 gallon and have seen excellent colors but only good growth on a few SPS. I'm thinking about going back to radiums again or possibly t5's. I'll wait at least another few months just to see if growth takes off.
