Purple mushrooms

George, it's really nice of you to share your shrooms instead of killing them. You should at least add a buck for your time shipping and shipping materials. Send me some too :D
Been looking for purple ones. Saw some at LFS in their display tank and were not for sale. They are at the bottom of the tank with low light and they look like purple trumpets (reaching for the light).

Thanks, but I don't mind giving them away like this. If anyone wants to chip in an extra buck or two they can, but it's totally up to them.;) I figure instead of killing them and getting flamed for it, why not give them away like this. I'll let you know if I have any left over.
Later,

George

What temperature do you keep your tank? My tank is kept at 82, with MH and PC lighting -- mushrooms don't like it.

I have a chiller which keeps the water at around 77 degrees, 14K Hamilton 250 with (2) 36" VHO's. At first I thought they like low light and kept them at the bottom and then they started popping up towards the top and then bam they are all over the place

I just sent you a payment. Thanks for this offer, I'm so excited to be getting purple mushrooms. I was at the LFS here today and they only had green and red. I've never seen purple anywhere before (besides pictures).

Payment sent also. I had some about a year ago in my last tank that i have since taken down (bad nitrate problems). When the nitrates got high they all died. Started over with a 75g thats doing great and and cant wait to add the purples. Thanks Gcantu!!

How are you shipping them without spending much on materials?

I would like to do the same sometime, but having never done so it seems like it would be hard to...?

I know I personally save packing peanuts, bubble wrap and boxes from things I order. USPS also sends boxes for free if you request them online. I haven't spent a dime on packing material (other then envelopes for books when doing half), so it works out great. I have collections of boxes and packing items now, but I also get a new package every week it seems.

I am going to put the Mushroom in the sump which is full of rubble. Hopfully they will attach and spread, then I can continue to share like you did.

At least you can put corals in your sump. Any coral that goes in my sump because dinner to the chocolate chip starfish that lives down there. He needs a new home, along with the condy anemone down there..oh well.

I have a condy that's banned to the sump, it was stinging everything in the tank. It hangs between the baffles in the flow and looks much brighter now.

Every order should have at least (2) and possibly some babies in there as well. I have noticed how some have begun to pop up from the the sand bed as well, so they should not be that hard to remove.

I'm excited on these mushrooms now.

Oh and my condy is happier in the sump as well. I gave him a rock down there (well it was more to stop micro bubbles and give the pods a home) and he has now attached himself to that. I still want him gone though, he gets in the way, thankfully he doesn't sting me.

Hey, if you still have some left after getting through the list, tag me on the end of it. Let me know if you get that far and I'll pm you my address and send payment.

Frag off whatever you like on the mushrooms rocks, sell it and buy new live rock with the profits. Two years down the road, everyone on RC is going to be trying to get rid of these purple mushrooms.
