purple pseudochromis w/ cloudy puffy eye

I added a purple pseudochromis/dotty back about a week or 2 weeks ago. It was QT'd for about 4 weeks and came from a fellow reefer's tank never showing any signs of a problem. Since I added it to the DT my hippo tang has shown an interest in harassing it. I've kept her at bay somewhat using the mirror trick and it worked. Today I noticed one of its eyes looks cloudy and puffy. Could that be from the tang (or a 6-line in three also)? Anything I can/should do? Thanks

Fish could have injured its eye during its escape runs, so this is not necessarily from existing fish. I'm going through a similar experience with a Power Blue Tang right now, and per guidance of one of the LFS guru's have been quarantining it with Furan-2 for about 3 weeks now. Definitely improved the health of the eyes. While the eyes were hazy I had a tough time getting it interested in eating anything, but it is finally coming around. Surely a dottyback is tougher than a PBT and can handle the Furan-2 treatment! Hopefully the aggression issue subsides as your Hippo comes to accept the newbie.

Thanks. I'll have to try to trap it. It's very timid. Probably scared b/c it's under attack a LOT. it's a great eater -still, just fed some garlic to see if I can boost its immune system as I try to catch it.

I'm leaning towards unilateral popeye from a carpet surfing episode from the move from the move from QT to DT. Anyone have treatment experience? I read an article that recommends antibiotics to be given orally (with food) but didn't reccomed anything specific.

Take a look at metronidazole flake. This stuff does work very well for certain illnesses.

Purple psuedochrmis are usually pretty tough fish. They can take on much larger fish and typically pack a large attitude in their little bodies. I am surprised the tang messes with it. Either way, hopefully your tang leaves it alone.

I haven't been successful trapping this guy and the eye while not 100% looks about 60-70% improved. I'm questioning of I should continue tryi g to get it out. I'm thinking it may be more harmful. Especially going through the DT intro again
