Purple Pseudochromis ...

Are they known to eat shrimp? I recently put 2 skunk cleaners in my tank and woke up the next day and they were both gone. I looked on the ground near the tank to see if they had possibly jumped, but they were no where to be found.

IME, nonaggressive shrimp like cleaners, peppermint, etc added to a tank with an already established pseudochromis are at risk to be picked apart. I had better luck with coral banded shrimp...they seemed aggressive enough to keep the pseudo at bay.

Ok, thanks! I had a skunk cleaner before i put the Pseudochromis in and they were fine. Then the shrimp jumped out. I recently decided to add 2 more and they were gone the next day! What about blood shrimp? Are they non aggressive as well?

I had to sell my purple-stripe back to the shop just for that reason. My cleaner shrimp actually tried to defend itself. Those fish are too aggressive for my reef. Just my 2 cents.

Its a 29g. I thought it was a little wierd that right after i put them in the tank, both shrimp stayed at the front/top of the tank. I had never seen them do that before. I didnt see the PP mess with them at all though.....I am not a fan of the coral banded shrimp......

If your tank does not have corals you may want to consider a Saron shrimp. They're fairly aggressive and should be able to hold their own. I had one that killed an arrow crab and lived in a tank with a blue damsel and a purple dottyback.
