I wanted to get a purple queen anthias, but I have been reading that they are hard to keep. But does anyone have one of these? how are they?

If the purple queen anthias isnt the best anthias to get, what is another anthias that I could get instead that is colorful and a good choice for a reef?

The Square Spot Anthias?

bartlets seem to be the standard along with lyretails. i just got a group of pq's (P. tuka) today so ill let you know how they do.

Cool, thanks alot, I really want to get a purple queen anthias. Oh, and do you think I should get a group of three in a 50 gallon tank, or just one? is it too small for three?

Evansi's are gorgeous.. as are squamipinnis. The problem with queen anthias is getting them to eat, and they should be fed several times a day.

They are definitely a more difficult anthias to keep. I would not recommend starting out with one.

is it ok to keep one anthias in a 50 gallon though? I think I may try a squarespot one now, those look pretty cool!

Do not put a squareback anthias in a 50 gal tank..please.They get way too big and love to swim. If you are just thinking of one anthias get a sunburst, they need to be kept single.

oooh ok, well yeah, i was just looking into an anthias, but i havent heard much info on them so yeah, I'm trying to find one to put in the tank. I'm totally against putting something in a tank that is not suitable for the size of the tank.
