Purple Rain Anemone?

in my personal opinion, this nem is worth about $10 to me. Most people/vendors come up with fancy names on a specific animal because they are able to capture the very little detail of the animal closeup (due to technology) and attempt to charge an arm and a leg for it. that thing will look ugly brown in a reef unless you have a shallow look-down tank that you can see the nem just like the picture shown (top down view).

for me, due to my picky nem collection, i will not even want to put that in my tank, even for free. that thing and a majono anemone are no different in my view.

just my 2 cents.

Dang man, tell it like it is!! I am in complete agreement as well, this will not look like anything special outside of a top down view

Imo not worth the $100 cc wants for them. I would like to see diff views of it though. If it dont hold the bubbles im not even sure what it would look like.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. If it's worth it to YOU, then it's worth it, to YOU. I've never had an anemone that looks the same a year later. Most likely, it will change how it looks in YOUR tank with time. Cool looking pattern, but wonder what it would look like in a different tank, under different lights, with different water. Always expect them to change.

I think it'll look cool if it can bubble in your tank.. I have several high end BTAs but none of them bubbles in my tank, so they don't look as nice as pictures..

I've seen a similar morph called Purple Rain that looks the same but with more purple, seems a lot nicer and I've seen them for 50 or so.

I have seen these go for around 20-30 dollars around in my area (L.A.) and according to one LFS owner they are more common than you think. They are IMHO a nice variation, especially if you collect BTA's.

I'm going to guess you are referring to either Rainbow Aquarium or Reef Lounge USA. I too have seen these in the $20-$30 range.

say what... what store? I haven't seen much purple colored BTAs around

I also think that the colors will change. When I first started out I picked this one up (trade for some cheato).

This is what it turned out after being in my tank under Radiums.
