Purple Tang from LA

I took advantage of their special on Red Sea Purple tangs and ordered one along with a yellow. This is how the purple showed up last week:( I emailed them on Friday with this picture and they quickly replied and said they would get back to me but so far I haven't heard anything back. Should I pursue it with them more or just chalk it up as bad experience and move on?

It is hard to tell from the picture, but is that HLLE or just "stuff" on his face?

If it is indeed HLLE, LA will take care of you. Call them back and let them know...

Yes, it's HLLE. They are usually good on emails, I sent another one yesterday morning but have not tried calling them yet. If I don't hear anything today I will give them a call I guess.

I just got a call from them, that was pretty cool. They said its not HLLE and to just give it time it should go away. I'll cross my fingers!

I get the chance to visit the wholesalers at LAX frequently, and the purple tangs start to break down like that quickly when being kept in individual small cubes while waiting to be sold.

I've bought many like this and they quickly heal up/recover. If I put them in my outside frag tank, where they get only sunlight and algae off the rock (no extra food) they are all cleaned up in a week.

Inside up VHO or Halide lights it takes about two weeks, with the only supplemental food being pellets and romaine lettuce.

I have 3 PTs from LA; all looked a little rough when I got them; they are magnificent now. I've had them for 6+ years. As I remember, it took just a few weeks to get them in top shape. I think not being in a QT now is a big concern, though.
