Purple Tang QT Question

I purchased a Purple Tang yesterday and have him in QT. My LFS has been holding him for me for over a month. He has no signs of ICH and appears to be healthy. I know ICH can appear sometimes after a few weeks. My question is, should I put him in hypo or just leave him in QT and if he does show signs then put him in hypo?

Hello,

I think you will get varied opinions. Some people start right away other wait.

Personally, I would QT him and if he shows signs of a disease then I would treat. I personally do not treat unless they fish is sick... But thats the way I do it.

Thanks for the reply. I figured I would get different opinions I just want to see what the overall consensus is. I know that if there are signs it would prolong the QT, but the SG at the LFS was 1.017, I keep mine at 1.026, so I don’t want to keep adjusting the SG. He was at the LFS since Christmas and has never shown signs of anything. I think I will just leave him in QT and if I do see something, I will begin hypo.

Thats a good idea, some fish stores; I visit one that runs a small amount of copper and keeps the SG @ 1.018 to prevent disease.

But sometimes when you get them home and put them in different environments disease can show up.

QT for 2 more weeks just to be sure. Never really know what happened at the LFS. Promices are great, but best to be safe
