So what contributed to the success of reversing the HLLE?

I believe it was the combination of really good nutrition, pristine water quality, and a low stress environment (compatible tankmates). Without these, the HLLE wouldn't have improved. :thumbsup:

I couldn't help but notice that he is missing his pelvic fins. Did this happen when he was really small? I only ask because I adopted a purple tang from a guy taking down his tank that has the same thing going on. According to him, he got the fish when it was the size of a penny when working at an LFS. I assumed it happened during collection because the fish was so tiny. Should I give up hope of the fins growing back?

About his pectoral fins, I'm sure this happened before I picked him up from the LFS. I haven't witnessed any signs of them regenerating, unfortunately...I would never give up hope though! From my experience in this awesome hobby, anything is possible.

What type of nutrition did you feed the tang to reverse the HLLE?

I have a hippo with it right now and I feed Nori 1x daily along with mysis, brine,and pellets. I have zero carbon in the tank and 2x grounding probes......trying everything and it seems to get worse

Awesome tang ...great color... I have an Achilles now and would love to get a purple but not sure if that would work!

I had a purple for about a year first and then added the achilles, in my case, adding the achilles first would have never worked. My achilles is so aggressive I can't add anymore fish no matter what they are...i've tried and it wasn't pretty :-(
