How many can I keep in a 65g tank?

None, they get too large and rather aggressive, especially in a small tank. How about a dwarf angel like a coral beauty instead?

+1, minimum tank size i would even think of a purple in is a 120g

Agree with the others. Not what you wanted to hear but these fish are extremely active, grow to a good size and are quite aggressive. A 65 would be terribly cramped for even a single one. A 6 foot tank would be a good starting point to keep one.
